Background

Priya is beginning her final year as a Masters of Social Work student with a concentration in leadership and policy at the University of Denver. Her practicum with Equity Labs was born out of a desire to nurture and build leadership skills and qualities in the DEIJ space.

DEIJ Experience

At Priya's alma mater, Florida State University, she gained DEIJ experience working with individuals who were currently or formerly incarcerated at the Institute for Justice Research and Development; as well as, experience working with the Center for Behavioral Health Integration to better understand the treatment of pregnant individuals in jails and prisons. Most recently, she has had experience assessing the systems surrounding former foster youth in the Denver Metropolitan area with the Bridging the Gap program under the organization Mile High United Way.

What is one moment in your DEIJ work that you would like to celebrate?

I was able to facilitate an asynchronous training for the Institute for Justice Research and Development regarding working with young, LGBTQ+ people who are justice-involved!
