We are updating Equity Reads!

We will include different media formats from book selections, to podcasts, and a documentary or two as we join in conversation.

Equity Reads is an opportunity for community partners to engage in DEIJ discussions through reading and reflection. We will critically examine contemporary texts influencing the DEIJ landscape. Our facilitation team will support attendees knowledge in facilitating similar conversations with their teams, colleagues, and friends.

Why Join The Conversation

DEIJ Focused Community and Discussion

Each piece of media chosen for Equity Reads focuses on providing DEIJ-centered themes and discussion done in small, virtual community.

Facilitation Skills From Experienced Facilitators

Our experienced facilitators will provide guidance and strategies in facilitating similar community-based discussions and learning.

DEIJ Knowledge-Building

The Equity Reads mixed media selection is curated to build participants knowledge of DEIJ themes and narratives that will support them in the workplace.

Upcoming Topics & Books

Jennette McCurdy headshot

For the next iteration of Equity Reads, we are going to center our conversations around eating disorders, weight stigma, and body dysmorphia from a diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice lens.

I’m Glad My Mom Died by Jennette McCurdy is a memoir during her years as a child actor that shares her experiences of eating disorders, addiction, the complicated relationship she had with her mom, and how she gained back control in her life. Jennette McCurdy’s book is just one resource we will be reading from as we move through our book clubs.

Previous Books We Have Read

Tricia Hersey

Rest is Resistance: A Manifesto by Tricia Hersey demonstrates the power and necessity of rest in the face of advocacy.

In Rest is Resistance, Tricia Hersey leans on her experiences from a graduate-level divinity program and her upbringing in a Black church community to articulate the liberatory force of rest. Hersey’s education, community, and spirituality drive her motivations and methods for rest. We encourage you to join the conversation and consider what your foundations are for a deeply liberating practice.
