It is important to continue deepening our collective understanding of diversity. Diversity includes the practice of including and involving people of various races, genders, financial backgrounds, political views (and so much more) in the workplace. Some of the success of integrating diversity relies on the support of leadership and executive teams.
During Community Hour this month, we will illuminate the current lack of diversity in executive leadership roles and discuss how to ensure a less homogenous future. We often talk about the diversity of our workforces and how we can support those diverse workforces. During Diversity Month we want to dig a little deeper and look at leadership and executive team diversity.
Let’s look at a few numbers...
6 Fortune 500 Companies Have a Black CEO
Only 6 Percent of Fortune 500 CEOs Are Women
1 in 20 C-Suite Leaders Is a Woman of Color
Less than 1 percent of Fortune 500 CEOs publicly identify as LGBTQ
During this community hour we will talk strategy about diversifying our leaders from three different lenses:
How can executive leaders continue to diversify their team from their position of power?
How can BIPOC and marginalized folks have more access to leadership positions and get the support to stay in those positions?
How can white folks advocate or elevate BIPOC folks to executive leadership with their privilege?
