Supporting Our Veteran Employees & Colleagues: November Community Hour

As we spend this Veterans and Military Families’ Month recognizing those who are serving and have served, it’s important to acknowledge the struggles that many veterans face upon returning home.

Veterans can experience multiple barriers to entry when re-entering the workforce. When veterans are placed in job positions in which they feel stuck, unsupported, or burnt out, this can lead to a slew of long-term mental health concerns such as depression, anxiety, or suicidal ideation. In order to prevent this, organizations must embrace a culture and community that fosters support and resources for veterans.

Join us for this community hour as we discuss ways in which we can better support our veteran employees and colleagues. We will be discussing:

  • How to identify ways in which workplaces are exclusive of veterans and how to address those.

  • Discuss and collaborate on ways to create supportive policies for veterans.

  • How to advocate for inclusive practices for veterans.

The Equity-Labs.org community hour is a space to explore what is possible when we activate our imaginations and take the small steps to live equity into being right now. This is a place to work on yourself and our world. All who are willing to be curious, courageous, and respectful of difference are welcome!
